On Thursday August 13, 2015 twelve MCG members and one guest from Scotland enjoyed lunch at Malaya Hainan, not far from Chinatown near Pasar Seni.
The restaurant has been open for only a year and is housed in a former post office. The owners spent a few years renovating and restoring the building which has a smoke free dining room and a separate bar area.
Pictures of old KL and a few antiques give the building an old charm.
We had great fun chatting, catching up with each other and making new friends!
Our pre-ordered lunches came shortly after we arrived and quickly satisfied our hunger pangs!
Popular dishes were Hainan Roasted Chicken, Nonya Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour Chicken and Fried Hainan Mee. At RM 11.90 per set, including tea, it was a great deal!
After lunch we walked down the street to Aku Café & Gallery where we received a warm welcome and were treated to delicious desserts, coffee & tea!
Aku, on the second floor of a shop lot, is a lovely little gem worth going to…so much nicer than regular chain coffee shops. Looking forward to going back to this area!
