On September 12th, Enak organized a delightful outing at Dancing Fish in Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC). Since its renovation, BSC has become a popular dining spot.
Dancing Fish, named after its signature Ikan Menari, is a well-loved Malay-Indo restaurant with a loyal following. Datin Murni Rahim, a regular patron, hosted us. The lunch was attended by 27 of us; 22 Enakers and 5 guests. We were all seated in the private area on 4 long tables. Head chef Zul introduced us to Dancing Fish, which has been around for 22 years, first at KLCC and now at BSC. The menu features Indonesian dishes with a Malay twist, with 80% of the recipes being unique to the restaurant.
For the main course, we chose between Grilled Chicken or Beef Rendang, served with yellow and white rice. The meal included Emping & Sambal Terasi, Tahu Tempeh Goreng, Belimbing Salad, Javanese Soup, and Gulai Pucuk Paku. Dessert was Lemongrass Jelly with Pop Pop, and we enjoyed free-flowing Barley drinks, hot or cold.
The ambiance was chic and modern with attentive service. The Beef Rendang was flavorful and tender, while the Grilled Chicken was perfectly seasoned. The Emping had a nice balance with the Sambal Terasi, and the Tahu Tempeh Goreng came with a fragrant sambal. The Belimbing Salad offered a tangy taste with its star fruit, and the Javanese Soup was a comforting chicken broth with vegetables. The meal ended with a refreshing Lemongrass Jelly.
